We have been operating our shop, Verma Jewels, in Civil Lines for a long time. It’s a nice enough area, though parking can be a bit of a nightmare during the busy hours. The shop is small and has been in the family for years. I spend most of my day sitting behind the glass counters showing people different gold and silver pieces. We don’t have those fancy automated security doors or high-tech lighting you see in big malls. It’s just a simple local jewelry store. Sometimes the display cases get a bit smudged with fingerprints and we have to keep wiping them down. We get a lot of regulars who come in just to chat or to have a small piece of jewelry repaired. Fixing a broken chain or resizing a ring takes time, and we often have a backlog of work sitting in the tray. It’s not a polished corporate environment; it’s more like a place where you can sit and take your time. We don't really do any big sales or use flashy slogans. We just open up every morning, clean the glass, and wait for customers to stop by. My father taught me how to judge the weight of stones and metal, and that’s what we still do today. It’s a quiet life, but it keeps us busy enough to stay happy. We just try to be fair and do the work that needs doing.
