City Ceramice

City Ceramice is located right on Nicholson Road, specifically at 11/2 near Kashmere Gate. If you know this area, you know how crowded it gets with all the vehicles and people moving through the narrow lanes. Our shop is filled with stacks of tiles and ceramic items that take up almost every bit of floor space we have. It’s not a fancy showroom like the ones you see in the malls. It’s more of a working warehouse where things are always being moved around. We spend a lot of time just shifting boxes so we can find exactly what a customer asked for. The dust from the ceramics gets on everything, but that’s just part of the job. Most of the people who come in are local contractors or folks trying to fix up their bathrooms. We’ve been here at Kashmere Gate for a long time, so we know the rhythm of the market. Sometimes it’s so loud outside you can barely hear the person standing next to you. We just keep the ledger books on the counter and write everything down by hand. It works for us. We aren't trying to do anything big or special, just selling tiles and making sure people get what they paid for without too much fuss. It is a lot of heavy lifting and sweating, especially in the summer months when the air feels thick and still inside the shop.
