The Bag Factory

The Bag Factory is tucked away at number 4036 in the Haryana Building. This is in the Charkhe Walan area, which is a bit of an older part of the city. Our workshop is usually full of the sound of sewing machines and the smell of new fabric. We have rolls of cloth leaned up against almost every wall and scraps of thread on the floor. It is not the cleanest place, but we are busy making bags, so cleaning usually comes last. The Haryana Building has a lot of character, which is a polite way of saying it is quite old. We have a few long tables where we cut the patterns and a row of machines where the actual sewing happens. It is a small team here, just a handful of us who know how to handle the material. We don't have a shop where you can browse. It is strictly a place of work. Sometimes customers come by to pick up their orders and they have to navigate around the stacks of finished goods. We have been here for a long time and the locals know us by the noise we make. We just keep to ourselves and focus on the stitching. It is a simple life and a simple business. We don't need much more than our machines and some good light to get through the day.
