Our office is on the first floor of Suri Chambers, which is at No. 959 in Chota Chipiwara, Chawri Bazar. Chawri Bazar is a very old and very busy part of Delhi. You have to push past a lot of people and rickshaws just to get to the front door. Once you go up the stairs, it’s a bit quieter, but you can still hear the shouting and the horns from the street. We do import and export work here. It’s mostly metal hardware and tools. The office has been the same for years, with the same old desks and a few filing cabinets that are starting to rust a little at the bottom. We don't have air conditioning, just a few big fans that move the hot air around in the summer. We spend most of our time on the phone or typing out emails to suppliers. We are a small team, and we’ve all been working together for a long time, so we don't need many rules. We just know how things work. Lunch is usually a shared affair where everyone brings something from home and we eat together at the main table. It’s an honest way to make a living and we don’t feel the need to make it sound like more than it is. We just trade goods and try to keep our accounts balanced every month.
