You have to weave through the crowds to find us here in Chandni Chowk. Our shop is at 1037 Gali Iranian in the Maliwara area. It’s a tiny place, but that’s how it is in this part of Delhi. We’ve got our counters and our displays, and we spend most of the day talking to customers who squeeze in. It’s always noisy outside with the rickshaws and people shouting, but inside we just focus on the jewelry. We handle a lot of gold and silver pieces. It’s not one of those huge, bright malls; it’s more of a traditional setup where we know a lot of the families who come in. Some people have been buying from us for years. We spend a lot of time cleaning the glass and making sure everything looks okay. It gets really hot in the summer, even with the fans going, but we’re used to it. The streets around Maliwara are narrow and can be a bit confusing if you’re not from around here. We don't do much fancy advertising. Most of our work comes from people just walking by or hearing about us from their neighbors. It’s a lot of sitting and waiting, then a sudden rush of people. We just keep things moving and try to stay organized in the small space we have. There is always someone coming in to ask about a price or a repair, and we do what we can to help them.
