Our shop has a long name, Joti Pershad Chattar Sain Jain, and we are tucked away in Kinari Bazar, right in the heart of Dariba Kalan in Chandni Chowk. If you’ve ever walked through these narrow lanes, you know how packed and historic everything feels. We have been here for a long time, surrounded by the old buildings and the constant flow of people looking for traditional items. It’s a very old part of Delhi, and our shop fits right into that scene. We mostly deal with things that people need for weddings or festivals, though we have all sorts of odds and ends in the back. The space is tight, and the shelves are old, but there is a lot of history in these walls. People come to us because they know the location and they know we’ve been here for generations. It gets very noisy outside with the rickshaws and the shouting, but inside we just focus on the customer standing in front of us. We don’t have a website or any modern marketing stuff. People usually find us by word of mouth or because their parents used to shop here. It’s a bit chaotic sometimes, especially during the busy seasons, but we manage to keep things moving. We take pride in just being a steady part of the bazar, year after year, serving whoever walks through the door with a smile and a fair price.
