Chandni Chowk is always a bit of a headache with the crowds, but it’s the best place to be if you’re in the light business. We have all sorts of stuff hanging from the ceiling and piled on the floor. It’s a narrow shop, but we make the most of the space we have. You can hear the bells from the Gurdwara and the shouting of the rickshaw pullers all day long. We sell a lot of decorative pieces and the basic electrical components that people need for their shops. It’s a lot of testing wires and showing people how bright a bulb is. Sometimes we lose track of time because there are no windows to the outside, just the glow of our own lights. We get people coming from all over the city because they know this market has everything. It’s a bit messy, and there’s always bubble wrap everywhere from unpacking new arrivals. We try to keep things moving so we don't get too jammed up when a big group walks in. It’s a hectic life, but we’re used to the noise by now. Being right in the middle of this market means there is never a dull moment.
