Our place is tucked away on the first floor of Ballabh Market. If you know Chandni Chowk, you know how crowded Kuncha Natwan gets, so finding No. 1000/3 can be a bit of a trick if you aren't looking for the sign. We’ve been set up here at Gautam Creation for quite some time. It's a tight space, but we make it work. Every day is a lot of noise from the market downstairs and people running back and forth with rolls of fabric. We spend most of our time at our tables, cutting and sorting through whatever project is on hand. It gets pretty hot in the summer months, but that's just life in Delhi. We aren't some big corporate office with glass walls and carpets. It's more about piles of cloth and the sound of heavy scissors. Most of the guys here have worked in this market since they were young. We know the neighbors and the tea stall guy knows exactly how we like our chai. It’s a community, really. We just try to keep our heads down and get the sewing and designing done. There’s always a lot of shouting in the halls and the smell of street food drifting up through the windows. It’s not perfect, and the stairs are a bit steep, but it’s where we do our work. We just stay focused on the clothes and try to stay organized in the middle of all the chaos.
