G. J. International

Dariba Kalan is a very old part of Chandni Chowk and our shop at No. 1793 has been around for quite some time. It is a narrow street where you have to watch where you are walking because of the rickshaws and the crowds of people. We usually start the day early, around nine or so, when the shutters on the other shops are just going up. G. J. International is basically just a few of us working in a small space filled with boxes and ledgers. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we never seem to get around to it because there is always something else to do. We sit on old wooden chairs that creak every time you move. Most of our day is spent talking to people who stop by or checking on the inventory we have stored in the back. It gets very hot in the summer months, and the small ceiling fan just moves the warm air around, but we are used to it by now. In the afternoons, the smell of street food from the nearby vendors wafts into the shop. Sometimes we get busy, and other times we just sit and watch the people pass by outside. There is a lot of history in these walls, even if it looks a bit messy to someone from the outside. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that. It is just a local business in a busy market.
