Datt Sari Bhandar

If you walk through Chandni Chowk and find your way to Moti Chowk, you will see us at No. 90. Datt Sari Bhandar has been part of this street for a long time. It is very crowded here, and the noise from the rickshaws and people shouting never really stops until very late at night. Inside the shop, we have shelves piled high with fabrics of every color you can think of. Sometimes it feels like the walls are made of cloth instead of bricks. We don't have a fancy computer system or anything, just some old ledgers and a lot of memory. Most of our day is spent unfolding things for people and then folding them back up again neatly, which takes a lot of practice. The floor is usually covered in rugs where people can sit and look at the items. We drink a lot of water because it gets so dusty in the market. It’s a family-run kind of thing, and there is usually someone’s uncle or cousin sitting in the back helping out. We don't do much advertising because people just know we are here at No. 90. It is a small space, but we pack a lot into it. Dealing with the crowds every day is just part of the life here in Chandni Chowk. It’s busy, it’s loud, and it’s how we have always done things.
