Al_karam Market

If you’ve ever been down toward Jama Masjid in Chandni Chowk, you know how crowded it gets. Al_karam Market is right in the thick of it. We’ve got all sorts of things here, from clothes to household items. It’s a narrow area and it can get pretty loud with all the shoppers and rickshaws passing by. We open up early and stay late because that’s just how things work in this part of Delhi. It isn't a mall with air conditioning or anything like that. It’s a real market where you have to watch your step and enjoy the smells of the nearby food stalls. Most of the shopkeepers here have known each other for years. We see tourists sometimes, but mostly it’s local people looking for a good deal on everyday stuff. The buildings are old and have a lot of history, which makes it feel different than the newer parts of the city. Sometimes it feels a bit chaotic, but there’s a system to it all. You can find almost anything if you look hard enough in the different stalls. We try to keep things stocked up with what people actually need. It’s a busy life here, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s just how Chandni Chowk is. You just find a spot and get to work. It’s a big part of our daily life.
