Cavery

It is quite something being located right in the middle of Chandni Chowk. If you have ever been here, you know how the lanes are. It is always crowded and there is a lot of shouting and rickshaws going by. We have been operating Cavery from this spot for years and it feels like we are just part of the old city now. The walls are thick and it stays a bit cooler inside than out on the street during the summer months. People always ask how we manage the crowds, but you just get used to it after a few weeks. It is mostly about getting the shutters up on time and making sure the lights are working. We don't have a big fancy office with glass windows. It is more of a practical space where we can sit and get things done. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit and wait for it to come back while talking to the neighbors. There is a tea stall nearby that makes the best ginger tea, and that usually keeps us going. We don't really do much talking about ourselves because our work usually keeps us busy enough. Chandni Chowk has its own rhythm and we just follow along with it. Every morning starts with a lot of noise and every evening ends with the same. We are just a small part of this big market and that suits us just fine. It isn't much but it is our place.
