Bhatia Pipe Store

Bhatia Pipe Store is located right in the heart of the old city, near Jama Masjid at Hauz Qazi, number 5006. If you’ve ever walked through those lanes, you know it’s a world of its own. It’s incredibly crowded, with rickshaws, pedestrians, and carts all trying to squeeze through the same narrow space. Our shop is packed tight with pipes and fittings of all sizes. There isn't much room to walk around inside once the stock arrives. We’ve been in this area for years and years, and the walls show the age of the building. We don't have air conditioning, just a couple of old ceiling fans that hum all day long. The smell of metal and the sound of bells from the street are just part of the background. Dealing with customers here is always an experience because everyone is in a rush and the noise is constant. We keep our records in handwritten books mostly, as that’s what works for us. When the weather is nice, we might stand out on the step for a minute to breathe, though the air is always thick with the smell of street food and old stone. It’s a gritty, busy life, but it’s our life. We know the other shopkeepers by name and we help each other out when someone needs a hand moving something heavy. It’s a community, even if it looks like chaos to an outsider.
