Raman Plastic Industries

Our place is over at H-10 in Sector 4 of the Bawana Industrial Area. It’s a big maze of streets around here, and if you don’t know your way, you can easily get lost. We started out with just a couple of machines and a lot of floor space that felt too big. Now, the space feels a lot smaller because there are bags of raw materials stacked up everywhere. The workers arrive early, usually around eight, and they get straight to it. There is always a lot of plastic scrap to sort through and melt down. It gets quite loud when everything is running at once, so we have to shout a bit to hear each other. The walls in the workshop could use a fresh coat of paint, but nobody really has the time for that. We focus more on getting the plastic shaped right. Sometimes customers call up and ask for things we don't have, and we just tell them straight. We aren't a big corporate office with people in suits. Most of us wear old clothes because the grease and plastic dust get on everything anyway. There is a small sink in the back where everyone washes up before eating their lunch. The fans are always spinning to keep the air moving, though it doesn't do much in July. It’s a basic setup, but it’s ours. We just keep doing the same things every day and we hope the machines keep running.
