Our office is on the first floor of an old double-story building in Lajpat Nagar. It’s at E 62 and if you know New Delhi you know how busy this neighborhood gets. Working for Banas Sands Ttc Jv from here is interesting because you’re surrounded by the noise of the shoppers and the street food stalls downstairs. The stairs are pretty steep and they creak every time someone comes up to see us. We’ve got a few desks pushed together and a lot of files that seem to grow every week. It’s a bit of a cramped space but it works for what we do. Handling the sand business from a residential-style building means we have to be organized about how we communicate with the sites. We don't have a big sign out front so you have to know where you’re going to find the entrance. Most of us just grab lunch from one of the vendors nearby and eat at our desks because there’s always something to finish. It’s a very local way of doing things and we don’t pretend it’s some high-end corporate office. We’re just here doing the work and dealing with the Delhi heat and the traffic like everyone else in the city. It’s a practical setup for a practical team and we like it that way. We don't need much else besides a working phone and a bit of desk space.
