Our workshop is over at B 269 B in Jaitpur, right near the station area in Badarpur. If you’ve ever walked past Part 1, you probably heard the sound of saws or seen the sawdust flying out into the street. It’s a tight space but we manage to fit everything we need inside. We spend most of our time looking at wood samples and trying to figure out how to make a cabinet fit into a corner that isn't actually square. Houses in South Delhi can be tricky like that. My hands are usually covered in paint or glue by noon. We started out small and stayed that way because it’s easier to keep track of what’s happening. Sometimes the traffic near the station is so bad it takes forever to get supplies delivered, so we just wait and drink tea until the truck arrives. It’s not a quiet job. There’s always someone hammering something or a customer coming in to show us a picture on their phone of a bed they saw online. We try to tell them what will work and what won't based on the space they have. It’s practical stuff. We don't have a showroom with bright lights, just the actual place where the work happens. It’s honest and it gets the job done. Sometimes we stay late when a project is almost finished because we want to see it done. We've been here for years and we know the locals well.
