Being located at 1501, Bhagirath Palace means we have to deal with the massive crowds every single morning. Chandni Chowk is never a quiet place, even in the early hours. We have been in this spot for a long time, tucked away in a corner of the busy market. The shop is relatively small, but it is packed with boxes from the floor all the way to the ceiling. My father was the one who started things here, and now we just try to carry it on as best as we can. You have to navigate through some very narrow alleys just to reach our building. It is always dusty and the air is thick with the sounds of the city. We spend most of the day answering the landline or talking to the local electricians who stop by to pick up parts. There is a small tea stall right outside the main entrance that makes a very strong ginger tea, and we probably drink way too much of it during the day. The lights in the palace flicker sometimes because the wiring in these old buildings is quite ancient. We handle all sorts of electrical components. It is mostly just a family affair with a couple of helpers. Sometimes the deliveries get stuck in the heavy traffic near the Red Fort, which can be quite frustrating for everyone involved.
