We are based at C.T-14 in Yamuna Colony, right here in Dehradun. Vkj Builders & Contractor Pvt. Ltd. is basically a small team of us who handle local building projects. We’ve been in this part of Uttarakhand for a while. Our office is simple, just a place to meet clients and look at plans. Most of the time you won't find us there though, because we are out at the sites. We deal with all the usual construction headaches like rain delays and getting the right materials up the hills. It’s a lot of coordinating with masons and carpenters. We aren't a big fancy firm with a lobby and a receptionist. When you call, you usually get one of us on our mobile phones while we’re on-site. We’ve seen Dehradun grow and change, and we’ve built a few of the houses around here ourselves. It’s hard work and your boots are always muddy, but it's what we know. We don't use any big words or complicated contracts. We just tell people what can be done and how long it’ll take. Sometimes things take longer than we want, but that’s just how building goes. We’re just local people building for other local people. It’s a straightforward way to live and work in the valley. We hope to keep building here for many more years to come.
