You can find us at No. 13/1 Rajpur Road, which is a pretty well-known part of Rajpur. Being on Rajpur Road means there is always noise from the cars and bikes passing by outside. We deal mostly in sarees and other styles that women in this part of town are looking for. The shop gets quite full on the weekends when families are out shopping together. We spend a lot of our time unfolding and then refolding long pieces of fabric. It is a lot of physical work that people don't usually see. Sometimes we have tea brought in from the stall nearby while we wait for the next person to come in. The interior of the shop is plain, with just enough lights to show the colors of the sarees properly. We don't have those fancy mannequins you see in the big malls. We just hang things up or show them across the counter. It feels more personal that way. Sometimes the rain comes down hard and we have to make sure the water doesn't leak in through the front door. It’s just a regular life running a shop here. We know many of the neighbors and they stop by to say hello even if they aren't buying anything. Dealing with different fabrics all day keeps us busy enough. We just try to keep the shelves stocked with things people like. It is a quiet living but we enjoy the routine of the street.
