Tanu General Store

Tanu General Store is located in Nehru Colony, and we are quite close to the Baba Meer Shah area. It is a bit of a walk from the main road, but the locals know exactly where we are. The shop is just a small room filled with whatever I think people might need. I have shelves for snacks, some cold drinks in a small fridge that hums too loudly, and a lot of household basics like light bulbs and batteries. I started this place because I wanted something of my own, and it has been serving the colony well enough. Sometimes the supply of electricity is a bit spotty, so I keep candles and torches handy. The shop doesn't look like much from the outside, just a simple door and a small sign, but I try to keep it clean and welcoming. I spend a lot of time chatting with the elderly men who walk past or the kids coming back from school. We don't have any big sales or promotions. If I have it in stock, I sell it at the regular price and that is that. There are days when it is very quiet and I just sit and read the paper, and other days when I can't even find a moment to drink my tea. It is a small business and it stays small, which is fine by me. I know where every single item is kept, even the small things like needles and thread that people only ask for once a month.
