Singh Eye Hospital

Down in Araghar, specifically at number 230 in Dharampur, is where you’ll find our eye hospital. It’s a straightforward place. We’ve been operating out of this building for years. The neighborhood is mostly residential, so it’s a bit quieter than being on a main highway, but there’s still plenty of movement around the entrance. We have a couple of rooms set up for eye exams and another for small procedures. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but they’re clean enough. Patients come in because their vision is getting blurry or they need new glasses. We have those charts on the wall with the letters getting smaller at the bottom. I’ve seen thousands of people squint at those over the years. Our staff is small, just a few local people who know the regulars. We don’t have a fancy coffee machine or a big TV in the waiting room. People just sit on the benches and wait their turn. Sometimes we get a bit behind schedule if someone has a complicated problem, but everyone is usually patient about it. We take care of the everyday stuff, like checking for infections or fitting frames. It’s a basic hospital, nothing too complicated or over the top. When we close up in the evening, we lock the gate and that’s that. It’s a steady pace of life here in Araghar. We’re just glad to be part of the community and keep people seeing as well as they can.
