People usually find us over at 7Inder Road when they need to sit for a while. Renal Care And Dialysis Centre is where we spend our days, mostly just watching the machines and making sure everyone is comfortable enough. It’s quiet inside compared to the street noise. Inder Road gets a lot of bikes passing by. We have the dialysis units set up in rows and it stays fairly cool in here because of the equipment. We’ve got a small staff and we all know each other’s names. It’s repetitive work, honestly. You see the same people every few days, and you start to learn about their families and what they like to eat. We don’t have a fancy lobby or anything like that. Just some plain walls and the floor we mop every morning. Sometimes the power flickers but the backup kicks in. It’s a serious place because of why people are here, but we try to keep it friendly. We don't use big medical words much when talking to folks, just plain English. It’s just what we do. We open up early and stay until the last person is finished. Usually, we're just checking vitals and making sure the tubes are clear. It's a steady rhythm that doesn't change much from Monday to Saturday. Sometimes we even forget what time it is until the sun starts going down and the shift ends.
