Our place is out in the Lal Tapper Industrial Area. It’s a bit of a drive from the main part of town, so most of us carpool or take the bus to get here. Being out here means we have plenty of space, which we definitely need for all the water systems and equipment we handle. The air feels a bit different here than it does in the city, maybe a bit more open. Inside the building, it’s mostly open floor space with some offices partitioned off to the side. There’s always the sound of water running or some pump being tested somewhere in the back. We wear boots most of the day because the floors can get a bit wet when we’re moving things around. It’s a hands-on kind of job. We spend a lot of time checking valves, seals, and filters. The loading dock is always busy with deliveries coming in and out. In the winter, it gets quite cold in the warehouse, so we all wear thick sweaters and keep moving to stay warm. We aren't much for sitting around and talking; there is usually a list of things that need to be checked or fixed before the end of the shift. It’s good, honest work and we like the quiet of the industrial area at the end of the day when everyone heads home.
