Doon Taxi Service has its main spot on Kaulagarh Road in Krishna Nagar. We are right opposite the Central Bank, so we’re pretty easy to spot if you’re looking for us. We also have a connection over on S. V. Road in Kandivali West, which keeps us moving between different areas. It’s a lot of driving and a lot of waiting for the phone to ring. We have a small group of drivers who have been with us for years. Most of us know the roads around here like the back of our hands. We don’t have new cars every year, but we keep the ones we have running as best as we can. Being opposite the bank means there’s always people around. We spend a lot of time sitting on the benches outside the office, waiting for the next fare. It’s a simple life. Sometimes the traffic in Kandivali is a nightmare, and we have to tell people it’ll take twice as long to get there. We try to be honest about the time. We don’t use any fancy apps or anything, just a notebook to keep track of who is where. The office is small and usually smells like tea and old upholstery. It’s where we gather to talk about the day’s work and who had the most difficult passenger. We’ve been doing this for a long time, and it’s just what we do to get by.
