Running a kennel in Dehradun means there is never a quiet moment, ever. Between the dogs barking and the cleaning that never seems to end, our days stay pretty full. We are located up here in Uttaranchal where the weather is usually a bit cooler, which the dogs seem to like most of the time. It is a lot of work, honestly. Every morning starts early with feeding and then letting everyone out for some air. We don't have a massive facility with shiny floors. It is a practical space designed to keep the dogs safe and fed while their owners are away. Some dogs are easier than others, but we deal with all of them regardless of their mood. You get used to the hair on your clothes and the constant need for more supplies. The mountain air is nice, but when it rains, it gets muddy fast. We spend a lot of time just keeping things tidy. It isn't like what you see in those polished magazines. It is real work. We know most of the local vets and where to get the best bulk food in town. People around here know us because we’ve been doing this for a while now. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. Word usually gets around by itself from one dog owner to another. It is just us and the animals. Some nights are long if a dog is feeling anxious. Dehradun is home. (250 words)
