Our place, Ganga Tour And Travel, sits right by Laxman Jhulla. If you've been to Rishikesh, you know how busy that bridge gets with the monkeys and the crowds. We are on the Pauri Garhwal side, which has its own feel compared to the main town. Living and working here means you see a lot of different faces every single day. We started this because we know the mountain roads well. It’s a family thing, mostly. We don’t have a website that looks like a magazine. It’s just us in the shop, waiting for someone who needs a car to go further up into the hills or down to Haridwar. The sound of the river is always there in the background. Sometimes the traffic near the bridge is a nightmare, so we have to plan things carefully. We don't use scripts when we talk to people. If someone asks for a price, we give it to them. If they want to know the best time to leave to avoid the heat, we tell them. It’s practical. We’ve seen the town change a lot over the years, more cafes and more noise, but the mountains stay the same. We just keep doing what we do, providing rides and keeping our old cars running. It’s a simple life by the Ganga, and we wouldn't change it for anything else. We hope the bridge gets fixed up soon though since the walk is getting harder.
