B.K.S. Welfare Foundation

Our office is care of Kamal S Negi, located in Divya Vihar, Rajeev Nagar. This is part of the rural Dehradun area, so it’s a bit away from the main city buzz. B.K.S. Welfare Foundation is a local effort. We aren't some big city charity with a lot of resources. We’re just a few people from Rajeev Nagar who wanted to help our own community. The office is really just a part of a house where we keep our supplies and meet. It’s a friendly place, and there’s usually a neighbor or two stopping by to say hello. We focus on whatever the local families need at the moment. Sometimes that’s help with the kids' schooling, other times it’s assisting the elderly with their errands. We don’t have a formal way of doing things. We just see a problem and try to fix it. Rural Dehradun has its own set of challenges, and things don’t always work the way they should. We spend a lot of time on the phone or walking to different houses to check in on people. It’s not glamorous and we don’t have a lot of recognition, but that’s not why we do it. We just want to see our neighbors doing a bit better. It’s a quiet life of service, and we wouldn't have it any other way. We stay busy with the small things that actually matter to folks living out here.
