Vimal Steels is out in Abhorra village, which is part of the Kumher tahsil. It’s a different kind of setting compared to the big city industrial zones. Here, you see fields and open spaces around the workshop. We are located right at the post office area basically. It’s a quiet place mostly, except for when we are running the heavy equipment. The commute here involves driving through some dusty roads, but it’s peaceful. We started this because there was a need for steel work in this local area. Our building is a simple structure with a tin roof. When it rains, it gets very loud inside, so we usually have to stop talking and just work. We have a small crew of guys from the village who help out. Most of the time, we are working on orders for local builders or farmers. We don’t have a website or anything like that; people just know to come to Abhorra to find us. There is a big tree outside where we sit during our lunch break. It’s a slow pace of life but the work is steady. Sometimes we have to wait a few days for supplies to be delivered from the bigger towns. We just take things as they come. It’s a honest living and we like being part of the community here.
