Shri Guruguha Sangeetha Mahavidyalaya

Shri Guruguha Sangeetha Mahavidyalaya is found in Shastry Layout, Ragi Gudda, in the city of Shivamogga. To get to us, you usually have to go past the Honnali flyover and take a left toward the railway station. Because we are so close to the tracks, you can often hear the trains passing by while we are in the middle of a session. This is a place for music, so there is almost always the sound of a veena or a flute coming from one of the rooms. The building is tucked away in a residential part of Shimoga, so it feels more like a home than a formal office. We have several rooms where instruments are kept, and they often need tuning because of the changing weather. The layout is a bit cramped, and we have folders and music books piled up in various corners. It is not a polished or corporate environment at all. We are just a group of people who care about music and want to keep these traditions going in our local area. People find us through word of mouth or by following the directions past the flyover. We don't have a big reception desk or fancy signage. Usually, someone will just look up from what they are doing and help you out when you walk in. It is an honest, slightly cluttered place where the focus is entirely on the notes being played.
