Malnad Rice Mill

Malnad Rice Mill is situated at 2-8-105 on Race Course Road, in the Rangoli Halla area. We deal with rice all day long, so there’s always a bit of a dusty haze in the air. The building is an old one, with high ceilings and big windows that don't really open anymore. We have the mill running from early morning until late afternoon. The noise is something you just get used to after a week of working here. We see a lot of trucks coming and going from the Rangoli Halla neighborhood. It’s a busy part of town. Inside, we have stacks of gunny bags everywhere. You have to be careful where you walk so you don't trip. We aren't a big corporation, just a local mill that's been in the same spot for years. The floor is made of old stone, and it’s worn smooth from all the walking. We have a small area near the entrance where people come to talk about their orders. There’s an old wooden desk and a couple of stools. It’s nothing special, but it works for us. We don't use fancy computers, just some ledgers and a calculator. The work is physical and we usually go home covered in a bit of grain dust. That’s just the way it is at Malnad Rice Mill. We keep things moving and try to stay out of the midday heat.
