Ginger Exporter

Ginger Exporter is based out here in the Shivagomoga Dist, near the post office. It is a very green part of the country, which is nice for working. We spend most of our time dealing with ginger roots. It’s a lot of work because you have to check everything by hand. The dirt gets under your fingernails and the smell of fresh ginger is everywhere. My family has been involved in this for a long time. We have a simple shed where we sort the ginger into different piles. It’s not a high-tech facility. We use wooden crates and old sacks that we’ve had for years. The post office is just down the road, so we go there often to handle the mail. Sometimes the rain in Shivagomoga can be very heavy, and the roads get a bit muddy. We have to be careful when we are loading the trucks so nothing gets wet. It’s a quiet life for the most part. We don't have a big office with air conditioning or fancy lights. Just a couple of fans that hum all day long. We know the farmers around here pretty well. We talk about the weather and the crops while we work. It’s a very hands-on business. We don't use computers much, just a ledger to keep track of what goes out. It’s simple and honest work.
