Gangavathi Silk Saree Center

Down on Binny Company Road, you will find Gangavathi Silk Saree Center. It is a traditional kind of place. We don’t have those big glass windows like the malls; we have stacks of sarees and a lot of fabric to move through. Running a saree center on this road means we are part of an older part of the city's trade. We spend most of the day unfolding and folding silks, showing the patterns to whoever walks in. It’s a lot of manual work, and our hands are usually busy with the cloth. The Binny Company Road area has its own history, and you can feel it in the buildings around here. We aren't interested in being a big brand. We just want to sell sarees to people who appreciate the work. Some days are slow, and we sit on the stools and talk to the neighboring shopkeepers. Other days, the shop is full of families picking out things for a wedding. We don't have a marketing team or a polished website. We just have our shop and our stock. We know our regulars by name, and we know what kind of designs they like. It gets a bit hot in the afternoons, so we keep the fans going and just keep working. It is a simple business built on years of being in the same spot. We just do what we know. The road outside can be dusty with all the trucks passing by, but we keep our doors open. We aren't trying to be anything fancy, just a reliable place for silk.
