Upadhyaya Electronics

This is Radheshyam Gurjar writing this. I’m the son of Jaykishan Gurjar and we run Upadhyaya Electronics out of our place in Village Ashapura. It is near Bandikui in the Dausa district of Rajasthan. Living and working in a village means everyone knows where you are. You won't find us on any big main highway with bright neon lights. Our address is basically just our home and where we keep all the things for the business. Dausa can get very dusty and hot but we are used to it by now. My father started things here and I just help out with everything that needs doing. Sometimes the mail takes a while to reach us because the post office in Bandikui is a little distance away. We spend most of our mornings getting things organized. It’s not like a big city shop where people are rushing in and out every minute. Here, people come by when they need something and stay for a chat. We have a lot of space out here compared to those cramped offices in Jaipur or Delhi. It feels good to work where you grew up. The building isn't anything special, just sturdy walls and a roof that keeps the rain out during the monsoon. We just keep our heads down and do the work that comes our way each season. It’s not always easy but it is what we do and we’ve been doing it for a long time now in this village.
