Out here in Lawan, things move a bit slower than in the big cities. We’re located at X Lawan, and it’s where we spend most of our days working with rugs. This is a local thing that has been part of this area for a long time. We have a few looms and some space where we store the wool and finished pieces. Most of the people working here are from the nearby villages. We aren't a big factory or some corporate brand. It’s just us making floor coverings that people need for their homes. Sometimes the weather gets really hot, and it makes the work a bit harder, but we just keep at it. The rugs aren't made by machines in seconds; they take time and people actually looking at what they're doing. We stack them up and wait for the trucks to come pick them up for the markets. It’s dusty work and there’s always bits of thread on the floor. We don't really do much advertising. People know the Chouhan name around here because we’ve stayed in the same spot for so long. It’s a family-run setup, and we all pitch in with the cleaning and the packing. It’s how we make a living. There’s no big secret to it, just staying busy and making sure the rugs are decent enough for someone to put in their living room. We’ve been at it for years and plan to stay here for many more.
