Buddharam Stone Industries is out here on Nh-11 in Sikandra, right where Agra Road gets busy with all those heavy trucks. Most mornings start pretty early with the sound of the yard opening up and the crew getting the heavy slabs ready. Working with stone is just one of those jobs where you end up covered in white dust by noon every single day. There isn't anything fancy or quiet about what we do. We just handle the blocks that come in and try to get things moved to where they need to go. Some days the sun hits the rocks in the yard and it gets incredibly hot out there, but that is just part of being in this part of the country. People usually find us because they are driving down the highway and see the piles of stone sitting near the entrance. We have been at this specific spot for a good while now. It takes a lot of manual effort, lifting and shifting pieces around until they are right. Sometimes the cutting machines are so loud you can’t even hear yourself think, but that’s the way the day goes here in Sikandra. We don’t spend much time sitting around in an office because the actual work is happening outside on the ground. It is a very basic, honest way to make a living. We show up, deal with the stone, and talk to the drivers. The evening traffic on the road is always a bit of a headache when we are trying to lock up.
