If you go down to Gangori Bajar in Lalsot, you will find Ayush Uphar right in the thick of things. It’s a noisy, lively area and we’ve been part of it for quite some time. The shop is where we spend almost all our hours. It’s not a large space, and sometimes it feels a bit cramped when three or four people are inside at once, but that’s just the way it is in the bazaar. We sell gifts and small items that people need for birthdays or special days. My brother and I run the place together. We don’t have a computer system or anything high-tech. We just use a big ledger book to write everything down by hand. The shelves are wooden and we built some of them ourselves years ago. They’ve held up well enough, even if they aren't perfectly straight. Lalsot is a good town, but the dust from the main road always finds its way into the shop, so we are constantly dusting things off with a yellow cloth. We don't do any advertising or social media. Most of our customers are just people walking through Gangori Bajar who see our sign and come in to look around. It’s a very basic setup. We have a small stool by the door where we sit when things are slow. We don't have a mission or a fancy philosophy. We just want to sell our goods and make it home for dinner every night.
