Living and working in Daund can be quite a trip, especially with the factory being right here in Jijamata Nagar. We are based over near the Jb S Hotel, which is where a lot of people stop by. My name is V.V. Deshmukh, and this is where we manage the vehicle manufacturing side of things. It’s loud in the plant, with all the tools and parts being moved around, but you get used to it after the first week. We spend most of our time looking at chassis and engines, making sure things are put together okay. The area around here is always moving. Some of us live close by and walk in, while others have a bit of a commute through the Pune traffic. It’s not a polished corporate office with carpets; it’s a working floor with oil on the ground and heavy lifting. We deal with a lot of different people every day. Sometimes the supply trucks are late and we have to wait around, or sometimes we are rushing to finish a batch. It’s honest work, even if it gets tiring by five o’clock. We don't have a lot of fancy meetings, just quick talks on the floor to see what needs doing next. Being part of this team in Daund means you know your way around a wrench. That is just how life is here in this part of Maharashtra, working on vehicles until the shift is done.
