Sharma Rice Mill

Sharma Rice Mill is located at Post - Arai in the Aurangabad district. We are pretty far out from the main city, which makes it a nice place to work if you don't mind the quiet and the long drive. The mill has been around for a long time, and you can see that in the way the building looks. It has some character and a few cracks in the walls. We spend our days processing rice for the local community and beyond. The machinery is old but we keep it running with a lot of oil and some occasional repairs. When the mill is running, the whole floor vibrates, and you can feel it in your boots. We have a few guys who live nearby and walk to work every morning. We usually start early before the sun gets too high and the heat becomes a problem. There are stacks of rice bags everywhere you look. We try to keep things organized, but when it’s busy season, it’s mostly just about getting the rice moved and stored. We don't have any corporate offices or big meetings. We just talk over tea in the morning and decide what needs to be done. It’s a basic operation but it’s important to the people around here in the Arai area. We just keep the mill going and try to do a good job with every batch that comes through our doors. Sometimes the power goes out, but we just wait it out and start again.
