Hindustan Construction Company Ltd. Mumbai

I work in the claims and contracts department for Hindustan Construction Company Ltd. Mumbai. We are currently stationed up here for the Teesta Low Dam Project, Stage IV. Our temporary setup is in Salugara, which is a bit different from our main roots back in Mumbai. It’s a lot colder here than what we are used to in the city. My days are mostly spent going through documents, checking site reports, and dealing with all the legal side of big dam construction. It’s a massive project, and being right here on the ground in West Bengal makes a big difference. You can see the Teesta river from not too far away. We live and work in the same area, so the team is very close-knit. We eat our meals together and talk about the project constantly. It’s a high-pressure environment because there are so many moving parts and deadlines to meet. But we don't act like corporate executives. We wear our boots and jackets and get our hands dirty when needed. The project has its own rhythm, and we’ve had to adapt to the mountain terrain. It's a far cry from an office in the city, but there is something good about seeing the progress every day. We just keep our heads down and focus on the contracts, making sure every detail is accounted for so the work can keep moving forward without any major hiccups or delays.
