Himalayan Venture Travels

Our office is in City Plaza on Sevoke Road, which is right across from the Payal Cinema Hall. If you’ve spent any time in Siliguri, you know how busy Sevoke Road can get with all the shopping and the traffic. We are in the 734001 area, right in the thick of it. Himalayan Venture Travels is a small operation, and our office reflects that. The space has some desks, a few chairs for people to wait in, and walls that are mostly covered in maps of the surrounding hills and mountains. There isn't a big corporate feel at all. It’s just a few of us who like talking about the roads to Gangtok or Darjeeling. Sometimes the office gets a bit noisy because of the traffic outside, but everyone here has gotten used to it over the years. Most of the day is spent on the phone, coordinating with drivers and checking on the weather. On slow days, the staff just sits and has tea while watching the crowds go into the cinema across the street. Fancy technology isn't really used to manage bookings; instead, there is a big diary and some basic computer stuff. It’s a straightforward way to work, and it keeps things moving. This isn't a huge agency, just a local group of people who know the area and like helping others get where they need to go. The building has a lot of energy and being part of it is nice.
