Up here in the Darjeeling district, you can find us at the Maa Bhawani Complex on Mangtu Ram Road. Being in this part of the country, tea is everywhere you look, but we have our own little corner in the complex. The office is usually humming with the sound of people talking and the crinkle of packing materials. It’s not a very big space, but we make it work by stacking things high. Outside, the road is often busy with trucks and people, and the weather can change in a minute, getting misty or raining quite suddenly. We spend our days checking the quality of what comes in and making sure it's packed right for the journey ahead. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting boxes and marking them down in the logs. We don't have a big corporate setup or a PR team writing things for us. It’s just a few people who know their way around a tea leaf. Sometimes it’s a bit chaotic when three things happen at once, but we manage to get through it. The complex has a lot of other businesses too, so there is always someone to talk to or share a quick cup with. It’s a humble operation, but we’ve been at it long enough to know what we’re doing. We just keep our heads down and handle the daily shipments.
