Narmada Enterprises

Narmada Enterprises is located on Balaidas Chatterjee Road in the Hakimpara area. We are quite near the Bhutia Market, which is a very popular spot in Darjeeling. The weather here is often misty or raining, so the shop can feel a bit damp sometimes. We have a lot of different items stored on the shelves, and the space is quite narrow. It’s an old building on a sloped road, typical for this part of the world. We spend our days dealing with locals who come in from the market or from other parts of Hakimpara. The floor is made of wood and it creaks a bit when you walk on it. We don’t have any fancy displays; things are mostly just stacked where they fit. Behind the main counter, we have a small stove where we keep a pot of tea going throughout the day to stay warm. The air smells like the mountains and whatever goods we have in stock at the time. Bhutia Market brings a lot of foot traffic past our door, especially during the tourist season. We don't use a lot of technology here, mostly just a paper notebook to write down what people buy. It’s a slow-paced kind of place compared to the big cities. We've been on Balaidas Chatterjee Road for a long time and we like the neighborhood. It’s a quiet, honest business tucked away in the hills. Most of our neighbors have been here as long as we have.
