M/S Bharat Thapa & Co.

M/S Bharat Thapa & Co. is based up in Nirpani Basti. We are in the Belgachi area, under the Naxalbari police station in Darjeeling district. It is a beautiful part of the country, but the weather can be a real problem for our work. We do various things here, mostly related to local building needs. We are a small team, mostly made up of family members and neighbors who have known each other forever. We do not have a big corporate office with computers and air conditioning. Our office is just a small room with a wooden table. Life in the basti is pretty quiet and we like it that way. We are not looking to become a giant company. We just want to do a good job and earn our keep. The rain in Darjeeling is no joke. Sometimes it pours for days and we cannot get anything done. The roads get muddy and the trucks cannot reach us. We just have to be patient and wait for the sun to come out. It is a lot of physical work and my bones often ache at the end of the week. But we enjoy being part of this community. We do not have any fancy mission statements or slogans. We just wake up, see what the weather is like, and get to work. People know where to find us if they need anything for their projects.
