Our business is set up in Nayahat, specifically in the Kantivita area. We are based out of Chandra Bati Debi’s place. It’s a bit of a different world up here in the Darjeeling district compared to the big cities like Kolkata. The air is better, but the terrain makes construction work a bit more of a puzzle to solve. We build things for the people around here. It’s mostly small-scale stuff, nothing too crazy. We don't have a big fancy office with a receptionist or anything. It’s just us and our equipment. We know the local landscape and how the soil behaves during the heavy rains, which is very important for building anything that lasts. We don't use any slick marketing talk. We just tell people what we can do and then we try to do a decent job of it. Sometimes the supplies take a while to reach us because of the winding roads, so we have to plan ahead. It’s a slow and steady kind of life. We value being honest with our neighbors. If a job is going to take longer than we first thought, we just say so. We aren't looking to become some giant corporation. We just want to keep working and help build up our little corner of West Bengal. It’s simple, manual work that keeps us grounded. We’ve been doing this for a while now and it’s just what we know. It keeps us busy and pays the bills.
