Amateur Foodies Private Limited

We are down here in the lower ground of Manoratan Plaza, right next to Club Town in Siliguri. It’s a bit of a basement spot, but it stays cooler when the sun is really hitting the pavement outside. Most days start with us just moving boxes around and checking what came in the night before. We aren't exactly professional chefs with tall hats; we are just people who like to eat and figured we should make a business out of it. The name Amateur Foodies actually fits because we are still learning something new every single week about how to run a kitchen and keep the inventory straight. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit around talking until the generator kicks in. It’s not a fancy corporate setup with glass walls. We have some plastic chairs, a few sturdy tables, and a lot of different smells coming from the back. You can hear the traffic from the main road if the door stays open too long. Mostly, it’s just us trying to get the orders right and making sure nobody leaves hungry. Siliguri is a busy place, and being tucked away here in Jalpaiguri district gives us a little bit of a quiet corner to do our work. We spend a lot of time arguing over which spices to use or how to pack things so they don’t get squashed. It’s messy, it’s loud, and it’s what we do every day.
