Prasad Kirana Stores

Prasad Kirana Stores is situated right on the Basopatti Main Road in our village. We aren’t too far from Jaynagar, so people passing through often stop by. It’s a basic village shop where we sell grains, pulses, and other kitchen essentials. The building is old and the paint is peeling a bit in the corners, but it stays cool inside during the summer. I spend most of my time weighing out sugar or lentils into small plastic bags. It’s a lot of repetitive work but I don’t mind it. The village life moves at a slow pace and our shop is part of that. In the mornings, the elderly men sit on the bench outside and talk about the crops or the local news. We don't have a big sign, just the name painted on the wall. The floor is concrete and can be hard on the feet after standing all day. Sometimes the supply truck is late because the roads from Jaynagar get muddy after the rain. When that happens, we just have to wait. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know we are here. My kids come by after school to help move some of the lighter boxes. We’ve been part of this village for a long time and everyone knows our family. It’s just a simple kirana store trying to keep things going day by day on the main road.
