Pramod Poha Industries

Our place, Pramod Poha Industries, is located in Ward Number 1 of Laukaha Village. We are pretty easy to find because we’re near Bhagat Singh Chowk, which is a central point for everyone around here. Being in Laukaha means we’re deep in the rural side of the tehsil, and the business reflects that. We deal with poha, and our facility is basically a large shed where the rice gets steamed, flattened, and dried. It’s a loud place when the rollers are going, and the air is always thick with the smell of toasted grain. We don't have a corporate office or a marketing department. Most of our day is spent out on the floor, making sure the machines are running right and that the bags are being filled properly. The building is basic—concrete floors and corrugated metal roofing—so it gets quite loud when it rains. We have a small area near the entrance where we keep our ledgers and some chairs for visitors, but that’s about it for "office space." Working near the chowk means there’s always something happening outside, with tea stalls and people moving to and from the post office. It’s a lot of physical labor and long hours, but we’ve been part of this village for a long time and we’re used to the grind. It is simple, honest work that keeps us busy all year.
