Mithila Spices

You can find us in Balbhadrapur, over in the Benta area of Laheriasarai. We are located right near the Ram Rai Public School, so we hear the kids playing and the bells ringing all through the morning. It’s a lively neighborhood to work in. Our building is just a standard brick structure where we handle all our spice work. We get the raw goods delivered in big burlap sacks and then the process of cleaning and grinding starts. It’s a very manual process. We don’t have those fancy automated systems you see on TV; it’s mostly just us and a few sturdy machines. The air inside always has a bit of a kick to it because of the spices, so visitors usually end up sneezing a few times before they get settled. We’ve been in this part of Laheriasarai for a while and the locals know us well. We don't do much in terms of advertising because word of mouth around Balbhadrapur is usually enough to keep us busy. During the rainy season, we have to be extra careful to keep everything dry, so we spend a lot of time checking the roof and the storage bins. It’s a straightforward business. We show up, do the work, and head home when the job is finished. It’s not flashy but it keeps us going and provides for the people who work here.
