Crescent English School

Crescent English School sits right in Gandhi Bazar, so it’s always surrounded by the sounds of the market. Madhubani is a lively place, and being in Crescent Nagar means we are never far from the hustle. You can hear the rickshaws and the vendors calling out while we are trying to do math problems. It’s a bit of a crowded area, but we’ve made our home here. The school building is nothing special to look at from the outside. It’s just a solid structure that has been here for years. Inside, the hallways are narrow and the stairs are worn down from so many feet going up and down. We have a lot of students, so every room is usually full. It gets pretty loud during the breaks when everyone spills out into the common areas. We spend our time checking attendance and making sure the lessons are moving along. The teachers here are mostly from around this area, so they understand the local families. We don’t use a lot of big words or fancy talk. We just teach English and the other subjects as best as we can with what we have. Sometimes the power goes out and we just open the windows wider to let the breeze in. It’s just a regular part of life here. We close up the gates in the evening and head home through the market ourselves after a long day of work.
