R. D. Silk

Our shop, R. D. Silk, is at number 17 in K.R. Shetty Pet. It is on the 1st Cross, right near Jumma Masjid Road. This part of the city is very old and the streets are narrow. We are tucked away in a spot that has been part of the neighborhood for a long time. The building is quite old and has a lot of character in the walls. We work with silk all day, so the shop is full of soft textures and bright colors. It is a quiet kind of work compared to the busy streets right outside. You can hear the sounds of the neighborhood drifting in through the open door while we work. We do not have any big signs or bright lights to get attention. Most people find us because they live nearby or someone told them where we are located. It is a small operation with just a few of us. I usually handle most things myself, from unpacking boxes to talking to the folks who drop in. There is a lot of history in these streets, and it feels good to be part of it. We do not really do anything fancy here. We just keep the silk tidy and make sure everything is in its place. Sometimes the cat from next door comes in to sleep on a pile of scraps. It is a relaxed atmosphere.
